Goodbye Parties
My last week in Wilmington was memorable and it seemed like I just didn't have enough time to spend with everybody and not enough to do the things that I wanted to do around Wilmington for the last time in a while. Leaving Wilmington after 15 years of living there gave me mixed feelings. It made me really appreciate the time spent with my friends and those that I love. It made me realize that I am really going to miss them. Everyone keeps asking me if I am nervous and I wasn't nervous until everyone started asking. Then I started thinking "why is everyone asking? what should I be nervous about? I'm not nervous but maybe I should be because everyone is asking me? I won't know anybody there". I quickly went back to not being nervous knowing that God will handle it and having peace about going. So now that my "things" made it onto the cargo ship and the rest into storage I'm ready to start adventuring. Here's a little recap of my last week. Many thanks to all those involved in any part of it- Thurs. 4/22 (2 days after returning from Puerto Rico) dinner at Indochine with the hospital crowd, Friday 4/23 dinner at Kiva with Sherri, Saturday 4/24 Cookout at Stephanie's with my new renters Wendy and Jeremy and Rick and Kay Lynn, Sunday 4/24 Last service at Port City Community Church (wow I'm going to miss PC3), Monday 4/25 Grilling out with Iliad (once again we struggled with unevenly cooked chicken), Tuesday 4/26 Small group girls at K38, Wednesday 4/27 Little Dipper with Kim, Jessica, and the best lemon basil dressing ever made, Thursday 4/28 Lunch on the balcony at Roy's Riverboat Landing downtown- something I've wanted to do since I first moved to Wilmington, Friday 4/29 the movers came and it was "The" Going Away Party at my mom's neighborhood clubhouse with friends, Saturday 4/30 was say goodbye at Christian Surfers Wrightsville Beach. My mom said she has never known anyone to have so many going away parties. I thought that I should go away more often because it's a great opportunity to get everybody together and have fun. What all of this made me realize is that I love my friends and love spending time with them.

Hi. are you still running this blog. I was on Kwaj in 1973-75 and 1976-1979 (for my 3,4, 6,7,8th school years) and have been recently connecting with old classmates on FB. You must have been there a while and maybe almost comming back in May 2012? So how is the place. When I was there there were some 4'000 inhabitants so it must be different now. Cheers, Peter
